I was born in a small, country town in Tennessee. On a farm. We had cows. At one time, I even had chickens, but that ended badly when the roof flew off the coop and they got eaten by a cat, dog, and coyotes.
I love country music, obviously from an early age. I really love lots of music, (showtunes, 80s hair bands, Sinatra, I'm extremely varied) but my Grannie instilled in me her love of country music and it has never subsided.
My pap is my hero.
In high school, I was a bit loud and outgoing. Ok, more than a bit.
Then, I went to college, got my degree in education, got a job, met and married this hottie. We. Have. Fun. And that's the most important thing in life.
In 2012, the Boog Boog came along. She's a cutie. And is turning out to act just like her parents. We. Are. Screwed. My husband is a basketball coach and through that, I have a few other "adopted" babies that I love dearly.
And not a word of what I just told you tells you why I love decorating, thrifting, crafting, furniture re-finishing or anything else that this blog is about.
Besides me re-arranging and painting my teenage bedroom at 2:00 am when everyone was asleep, and asking for Christopher Lowell's Seven Layers of Design book for my 14th birthday (others wanted Seventeen Magazine, I was a dork), since 2004, I have lived in 4 different houses, each a different style, ranging from a 1920s farm house with rotting floors to brand-spankin-new construction and currently, a 1960s rancher. Since I haven't won the lottery, I have learned to be thrify when it comes to decorating and my style has evolved and changed over the last few years. A comfortable, eye-pleasing room just warms my soul, and makes me damn proud its mine. I love turning something old and decrepit into something new and amazing. It's a thrill. What can I say, I'm a geek when it comes to decorating.

Warmly,

Lauren, thanks so much! I did design my blog header. Thanks even more for that sweet compliment! If you need help with one, let me know! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI can totally associate with being the one redecorating your room and moving all your furniture around as a teen rather than reading 17 (or Sassy, or BOP). Love your design! Glad I found your blog, I'm now your newest follower:)

ReplyDeleteYou are my long-lost twin - that sounds creeeeeepy. ok 'cept you are way cooler and prettier, etc, etc. AND you have already done a great blog - wish I had thought of that name. I grew up in a house (near a teeny town in WV) with a tin roof and have always loved that sound. Ha. I too have Christopher Lowell's book and alas, I have not won the lottery either. Guess there is no reason for me to go on blogging. . ..ok no I don't quit that easily. :) Anyway, I think you are great!
ReplyDeleteYou are funny, Jessica! And very sweet! I am so glad someone else knows about Christopher Lowell!!
